“All in all”, she said as she started her summary.

and I stopped listening, the phrase stuck with me

My mind wandered outside of the classroom.

This became a serious question.

“All in all” what can that possibly mean?

A simple turn of phrase, some kind of meme?

An insight into existentialism?

A statement of extreme pantheism?

What connects me to a forest of trees

and everyone before and after me?

What is shot through all of reality

the root of all spirituality

the animism in every being.

the energy in everything living?

All in all from the primordial first

some call it prana or chi, I say Christ.
