Blessings and Woes

Blessed are you when people hate you, …on account of the Son of Man. Rejoice and leap for joy on that day! Woe to you when all speak well of you, Luke 6:22-23
Blessed are you who praise
The God of Creation
who breathed Spirit into matter
and let loose evolution.

Woe to you
with one life to live
who breath in God and
exhale what is stale.

Blessed are you who take in
God’s contradiction: divinity into humanity
and slip into constant conversion.

Woe to you with
tribalism as your conviction,
junk food religion as nutrition.

Blessed are you generation to generation
who advance life giving love
the expansion towards union.

Woe to you who gnaw on tradition
rather than dine with family
in the company of imperfection.

Blessings and woes, death and resurrection,
the tick tock of progression
our endlessly renewing salvation.
