Tranquility Might as Well Be

Tranquility might as well be a sea 
on the moon for all it means to me
in this cell surrounded by sirens. 

Every decision is fraught
caught between what ought
to be and a world of want. 

Beyond the boundary
of this demagoguery 
comes the call “have no anxiety at all.”

Don’t strain against the dark wall 
and become the likeness of it
but be a window that let’s in light.
